LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH for the KCBD/FOX34 viewing area has been cancelled. A few strong storms are possible through late evening, mainly in the yellow highlight in the map below.
For the remainder of this evening the greatest risk of severe storms, highlighted in yellow, is across the southern KCBD viewing area.(KCBD First Alert)
The strongest storms may produce hail up to about an inch and wind gusts up to around 60 mph. Areas of low visibility in blowing dust and downpours also are possible. Activity is expected to continue weakening through late evening.
Slightly Cooler
Once the storms clear, weather will improve significantly.

There’s only a small chance of a stray thunderstorm developing over the far southwestern Texas Panhandle and northwestern South Plains late in the day. Even there, however, chances remain low.
More Heat
Tuesday will be the beginning of a multi-day warm-up.

Our forecast is hot and dry with highs in the upper 90s across much of the viewing area and temperatures edging above 100 degrees – just below heat advisory levels – across some of the Rolling Plains.
Storms Return
