It’s beginning to feel like a Willy Wonka golden ticket thing. Cities across Texas seem to be waiting to be selected for the Blue Bell free ice cream tour. It kicked off in San Antonio and Austin a few months ago, and then careened over to Houston, all as Dallas-Fort Worth wondered when their time was going to come.
Now it’s here, as the Dallas-Fort Worth area will soon get their own taste. “Dallas-Fort Worth, we’re almost there! Have your spoons ready,” Blue BellĀ wrote on Instagram Monday, though they were probably kidding about needing to bring your own spoons. One can assume the ice cream truck will provide them.
Beginning July 10, starting in Benbrook, Texas, the truck will be “handing out free hand-dipped ice cream, frozen snacks, and fun giveaways to thank the communities that have supported us for over 100 years.” This is not one of those situations where you hear the jingle of an ice cream truck and have to drop what you’re doing to catch it. Instead, Blue Bell will park its special events truck at grocery stores throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including Walmart, Kroger and others. Check out the company’s tour page for further details.
Dallas-Fort Worth area fans seemed mostly excited to hear the news. Though one personĀ responded on Instagram with “Houston???” So in a sense, they totally missed the ice cream truck.
