H-E-B is further expanding its footprint in North Texas, announcing the official opening of a new Dallas-area store.
The Texas-based grocery store will open its first location in Murphy, Texas, on July 22, a suburban city a little north of Dallas. It will be the city’s first. For ages, H-E-B fans had to make the drive (albeit a short one) to nearby Plano, but now they will have a location all to themselves.
Located at 740 E FM 544 in Murphy, the newest H-E-B’s doors will open at 6 a.m. on Wednesday. The 136,000-square-foot location will include all the familiar go-tos, including a True Texas BBQ restaurant, curbside pickup area, fuel station and car wash, among other staples.
“H-E-B is excited to build on the company’s longstanding presence in the area and continue its expansion across North Texas,” an H-E-B spokesperson said in a press release.
The San Antonio-based chain always seems to have something in the works. The company recently purchased land in Houston’s East End area, is bringing another discount Joe V’s Smart Shop to South Houston, and is moving ahead with the first H-E-B in Dallas proper.
But this new one is the main concern for Murphy residents. In terms of groceries, the nearby area is home to a Walmart and Target.
“Murphy has been looking forward to this announcement for years, and to see it becoming a reality is truly exciting,” said Aretha Adams, City Manager of Murphy, upon the original announcement of the construction in April 2024.
