Former Lubbock County Constable C.J. Peterson dies

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Former Lubbock County Constable C.J. Peterson has passed away, according to sources with local law enforcement.

Peterson had a long career working in law enforcement and private security, including building his own company, LBK Defense. The Justice of the Peace and Constables Association of Texas honored him as Constable of the Year in 2016.

Peterson announced his candidacy as a Republican for Lubbock County Commissioner Precinct 4 in November 2025.

He took office as a Lubbock County Constable in January of 2015. He resigned from office in 2018.

Funeral services will be announced as arrangements are made.
