LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A former Texas Tech University marketing and supply chain management professor plead guilty to his role in a fentanyl distribution conspiracy, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Ryan Raybould announced
51-year-old Daniel Taylor was federally charged in February 2026 with intent to distribute fentanyl.
Taylor was employed as an assistant professor of marketing and supply chain management at the Texas Tech University Rawls College of Business.
In total, Taylor admitted to causing at least eight overdoses on fentanyl power he had supplied.
Taylor remains in federal custody pending sentencing before United States District Judge James Wesley Hendrix. The date for the sentencing hearing is currently pending. Taylor faces a statutory maximum sentence of 40 years in federal prison and a $5,000,000 fine.
