These came out in 2006 — or at least that’s when I got ’em. Here’s what I said about them back then (with some minor editing):

Four more shows from the depths of Austin City Limits‘ vaults — and four more winners.

Best of the lot: Doug Sahm and Sir Douglas Quintet‘s 1981 show,which features a hippie-haired Sahm, Augie Meyers on roller-rink organ, and an hour-long set that includes Mendocino, San Antone, She’s About A Mover, 96 Tears and 13 more Tex-Mex gems. It’s a groover’s paradise, baby. Not far behind: Texas songwriter and eternal badass Billy Joe Shaver‘s rough-hewn versions of I Been To Georgia On A Fast Train, Willy The Wandering Gypsy And Me and I’m Just An Old Chunk Of Coal from his 1984 appearance with son Eddy; Kris Kristofferson‘s 1981 set highlighted by his own Help Me Make It Through The Night, Me And Bobby McGee, For The Good Times and Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down; and the ever-lovable Willie Nelson‘s hour-long 1990 show, which kicks off with Whiskey River and includes Crazy, Night Life, On The Road Again and a couple of those Kristofferson classics. As always, the DVDs feature unaired footage and decent 5.1 remixes.
