FORT WORTH – Phyllis Sue Sparks passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas, at the age of 83. Phyllis was born on August 26, 1942, in Monahans, Texas, to parents, Elaine and J. Ford Schrock. Phyllis was a woman of grace, intellect, and compassion. She was known for her keen observation, quick laughter, and never losing her Southern drawl. She was quiet, but her presence was always felt, her love was always known, and her wisdom was always respected. Raised in Midland, Texas, Phyllis pursued her passion for knowledge at Columbia College of Missouri before completing both her Bachelors and Masters at Texas Christian University (TCU). She carried her love for TCU throughout her life, cheering on the TCU frogs every football season, and serving the university until her retirement. Phyllis was a dedicated career woman, but her love for her family was paramount. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and there was no mountain too high that she would not move for them. She was a beacon of love and strength for her family, and her legacy will live on in them. Besides her dedication to family and work, Phyllis had a deep love for reading, British television, and history. Her hobbies enriched her life and those around her. She was a woman of many talents and interests, and she touched many lives with her warmth and kindness. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Elaine and J. Ford Schrock; and her brother, Jerry Schrock. She is survived by her son, Steve and his wife, Letty, and their children, Will and Alison; and her daughter, Susannah and her husband, Todd. A private service for the family will be held to remember and celebrate Phyllis’ life. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to James L. West Center for Dementia Care in Phyllis’ memory as a testament to her caring heart and her legacy of love and service. Phyllis Sue Sparks leaves behind a life full of love, accomplishment, and dedication. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to have known her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
