Construction crews have made significant progress on the 114,000-square-foot store along I-35, where the building’s signature front facade is rapidly rising and exterior work has become increasingly visible to motorists traveling between Austin and San Antonio. The project remains on track for its announced fall 2026 opening.

Located near the San Marcos Premium Outlets on the east side of I-35, the store will become San Marcos’ third H-E-B and the grocer’s first location east of the interstate, expanding service in one of the fastest-growing stretches of the Texas Hill Country.

Throughout the year, crews have continued enclosing the building while pushing forward on the prominent front entrance, giving shoppers their clearest look yet at what will soon become one of H-E-B’s largest investments in the region.

When complete, the store will feature curbside pickup, home delivery, a pharmacy drive-thru, fresh tortillas, an in-store bakery, meat and seafood market, Meal Simple prepared foods and a Sushiya sushi bar.

The location will also bring San Marcos its first True Texas BBQ restaurant, along with an H-E-B Fresh Bites convenience store, fuel station and car wash.

With the front facade now climbing higher and exterior construction advancing quickly, the future H-E-B is beginning to resemble the finished store that shoppers are expected to see this fall.
