After a disappointing finish to the 2025 season, the Dallas Cowboys are looking ahead to the new campaign.
Much of the focus this offseason has centered around the team’s defense, which could get a boost from new coordinator Christian Parker. The team also picked up some new names for the defensive unit, led by first-round draftees Christian Parker and Malachi Lawrence.
As the offseason moves forward and NFL teams prepare for training camp, we’re breaking down the Cowboys’ 2026 roster by position groups. Let’s take a look at Jake Ferguson and the tight ends:

2026 Dallas Cowboys tight ends
Jake Ferguson
Age: 27 NFL experience: 5 years
Contract: Signed a four-year, $52 million extension with Dallas in 2025.

Summary: Ferguson should be the undisputed starter at tight end, especially after he signed an extension with the Cowboys in 2025. While he was productive with 82 catches for 600 yards and eight touchdown receptions, he didn’t provide a ton of big plays down the middle of the field.

Luke Schoonmaker
Age: 27 NFL experience: 4 years

Contract: Entering the final year of his four-year, $6.2 million rookie deal.
Summary: This will be a pivotal season for Schoonmaker. Dallas hoped he could be a vertical threat in its offense when the team selected Schoonmaker in the 2023 NFL draft. That hasn’t quite happened, as he’s caught 49 passes for 438 yards and three touchdowns throughout his NFL career.
Will Schoonmaker take a major step forward?
Brevyn Spann-Ford
Age: 26 NFL experience: 3 years

Contract: Entering Year 3 of his three-year, $2.8 million undrafted free agent deal.
Summary: If Schoonmaker can’t hit his stride, Spann-Ford could be a name to remember. The 26-year-old has already displayed his impressive athleticism at the position in limited windows of action. Spann-Ford could look to become the big-play threat behind Ferguson if he wants to make his mark on the roster.
Princeton Fant
Age: 27 NFL experience: 2 years

Contract: On a two-year deal worth $2.1 million.
Summary: Fant is another name to keep on the radar. He has experience working with the team, as he first joined as an undrafted free agent in 2023. While he has been a depth player, the Cowboys retained Fant this offseason when he was an exclusive rights free agent.
Michael Trigg
Age: 24 NFL experience: Rookie

Contract: Signed a three-year, $3.1 million deal with Dallas as an undrafted rookie free agent this offseason.
Summary: The Baylor product was essentially the definition of “big-play threat” throughout his time in Waco. He finished his final collegiate campaign with 50 catches for 694 yards with six touchdowns, earning third-team All-American honors and a first-team All-Big 12 selection. He’ll be an important name to follow in training camp as he looks to earn a spot on the 53-man roster.
DJ Rogers
Age: 24 NFL experience: Rookie

Contract: Signed a three-year, $3.1 million deal with Dallas as an undrafted rookie free agent this offseason.
Summary: Rogers was also an impressive playmaker in the Big 12. The former TCU player is a versatile weapon who could line up at fullback. He started 12 games for the Horned Frogs in 2025, catching 34 passes for 319 yards and two touchdowns. He isn’t opposed to taking a role on special teams to make an impact.
