Wednesday’s Forecast:
By Wednesday, high pressure will build back over the region, lowering rain chances. That means most of Houston will stay mostly sunny, hot, and humid, with only a very isolated shower or storm possible. Highs will remain in the mid-to-upper 90s, and overnight lows will stay close to 80 degrees.

Thursday may also bring a return of Saharan dust, which could lead to a hazier sky. The dust can sometimes help limit storm development, but it does not do much to cool us down. Expect another hot, sticky day.

The weekend forecast is where things get a little more interesting. High pressure should weaken enough to allow rain chances to climb again Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Friday will likely start the transition, with a few scattered showers and storms possible later in the day. Rain chances look higher Saturday and Sunday, when more scattered showers and storms may develop across Southeast Texas.
At this point, the weekend does not look like a total washout, but it does look wetter than the middle of the week. Rain chances may climb to around 50 to 60 percent at times, especially Saturday. With more clouds and rain around, highs may come down slightly into the low-to-mid 90s, but it will still feel hot and humid.

Looking ahead, elevated rain chances may continue into early next week before the pattern potentially dries out again by the middle of next week. There is not a strong signal yet for a major pattern change, so the big-picture forecast remains very July: hot afternoons, muggy nights, and daily rain chances that depend on the strength of high pressure.
For now, the best chance for more widespread rain appears to be this weekend into early next week. After that, temperatures may trend hotter again if rain coverage drops.
