The Major League Baseball draft kicks off All-Star week this Saturday, July 11.
Several Texans will be among the names called between Rounds 1 through 4 Saturday and 5 through 20 on Sunday.
The number 1 overall pick could be Argyle’s Grady Emerson, who attended Fort Worth Christian the past two seasons. Emerson won the Gatorade National Player of the Year last month. He’s committed to play baseball at the University of Texas, but told NBC 5 he’s still open to jumping straight to the pros for the right opportunity.
The Texas Rangers’ first pick is 16. Emerson is not expected to be available.
RHP Cooper Harris, Flower Mound
Flower Mound’s top arm this season is one of the top pitching prospects from the high school ranks. He posted a 0.46 ERA this season with 104 strikeouts and is committed to Texas. He ranks in the Top 80 overall prospects, according to MLB.com.
RHP Savion Sims, Prestonwood Christian
The Dallas Morning News’ 2026 Newcomer of the Year moved from Oklahoma, where he helped Santa Fe win a state championship, to become Prestonwood’s new top pitcher. He finished his high school career with a .913 ERA and helped lead the team to its first state championship since 2022. Perfect Game touts his fastball at 100 mph.
