EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Construction is underway for a water and wastewater line rehabilitation project for El Paso Water in Central El Paso on Tuesday, July 7.

The project is happening on Rio Grande Avenue, Dallas Street and Williams Street, all near Houston Park.

EPWater said the following traffic closures are in place due to the construction:

Rio Grande Ave. to thru traffic from Lee Street to Laurel Street.

Dallas St. and Rio Grande Ave. intersection.

Williams St. north of Rio Grande Ave.

It was noted by the utility company that wastewater services will not be affected, and minimal water service interruptions are expected. Customers in the area has been notified in advance.

Construction is estimated to be completed by November.

Detour signs have been posted, and drivers are encouraged to slow down and use caution in work zones.

“Residential access will be maintained; street parking may be limited throughout the project,” El Paso Water said.

According to the utility company, this project is a part of EPWater’s ongoing efforts to replace aging infrastructure and maintain a reliable water and wastewater system for the community.
