MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) – The Permian Basin’s USL League Two team closed out it’s home schedule with a win Wednesday evening.
Coming into the game, both West Texas FC and Lubbock were out of contention for the Ranger Division championship. A victory in Midland would be for nothing more than bragging rights.
Both West Texas and the Matadors got shots in early, but both teams struggled to find the net.
In the 13th minute, West Texas inbounded the ball in Lubbock territory. Matador Nico Kross went to the deflect the toss, but accidentally own goaled at the Lubbock net.
West Texas took a 1-0 lead and that’s all they would need.
With the win, West Texas FC improved to 4-4-3 on the year.
The team now heads to Lubbock for the season finale.
The Matadors will host West Texas at Lowery Field on July 11.
