Registration is open for Dallas County’s 10th annual Expunction Expo, a program that helps eligible residents permanently remove qualifying criminal records from public record. Since launching in 2017, Dallas County courts have granted 3,365 expunctions through the program, according to the Dallas County Criminal District Attorney’s Office.
“For ten years, the Expunction Expo has helped thousands of people remove barriers that stood between them and a brighter future,” Dallas County Criminal District Attorney John Creuzot said in a news release. “It has been an honor to continue this tradition of creating second chances and opening doors to opportunity.”
The expo is designed to help people who qualify under Texas law permanently remove eligible criminal records from public record through the expunction process. Applications are open from 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, through 5 p.m. Thursday, July 9.

Applicants visiting a community registration site should bring identifying information, along with case information including the date of arrest, offense charged and case number, if available.
Because demand exceeds available spots, not everyone who applies will be accepted. Officials said participants will be selected through a random lottery after determining whether their felony or misdemeanor arrest qualifies for expunction under Texas law. Applicants will be notified by Aug. 28.
According to Dallas County, people may qualify for an expunction if they meet certain legal requirements, including some dismissed charges, acquittals and other eligible cases. More eligibility information is available on the Dallas County Expunction Expo website. The expo is limited to eligible Dallas County criminal cases. Organizers say City of Dallas tickets and offenses may also qualify.
