CYPRESS, Texas (TNND) — A 13-year-old Texas boy was injured Tuesday when lightning struck his family’s home, sending an electrical current through the wiring to his computer and shocking him.

Harris County Constable Precinct 4 said deputies assisted the fire department after the strike sparked a small attic fire before the current reached the teen.

The incident came as isolated thunderstorms moved across the Houston area, bringing frequent lightning, heavy downpours and gusty winds to parts of southeast Texas.

The teen was evaluated by EMS, and an investigation remains ongoing, according to officials.

“Safety Reminder: During thunderstorms, avoid using corded electronics and stay away from electrical wiring and plumbing, as lightning can travel through a home’s electrical system,” the constable’s office said.

Vladyslav Skuridin told ABC News in a statement through his mother that he felt “a shock go through my whole body and I saw a super bright white light, then I quickly jolted back, and I was super dizzy and confused.”

“Also, I kind of just started screaming because there was a super loud boom that made my ears hurt and pop,” he added.
