Corpus Christi police arrest man in death of man struck by vehicle
Corpus Christi police arrested 19-year-old Victor Moreno July 9 in connection with the death of a man who was hit by a vehicle a day earlier.
The victim was identified as 32-year-old Athanasios “TJ” Stamatakis, according to the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Moreno was being held in the Nueces County Jail on $250,000 bail for a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon as of July 9, according to jail records.
Police said in an online post that Moreno was also being charged with criminal mischief. They did not disclose more details about the accusations against Moreno.
The police department previously said that a disturbance with a weapon had occurred in the 4500 block of Moravian Drive between people who knew each other and that the victim was hit by a vehicle during the incident.
Stamatakis was transported from the scene to a hospital, where he died of his injuries.
