Medical examiners have identified the man killed during a disturbance Wednesday morning in Corpus Christi as Athanasios Stamatakis, 32.
According to the Corpus Christi Police Department, Stamatakis died after he was struck by a vehicle during the incident. medical examiers said his family has been notified.
Police also announced the arrest of Victor Moreno, 19, who is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief causing between $100 and $750 in damage.
Officers responded around 10:43 a.m. Wednesday to the 4500 block of Moravian Drive after receiving a report of a disturbance with injuries.
When officers arrived, they found Stamatakis with life-threatening injuries and immediately began providing first aid until emergency medical personnel arrived.
Stamatakis was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
According to investigators, a preliminary investigation found that a disturbance involving a weapon occurred before Stamatakis was struck by a vehicle.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division processed the scene, and multiple people were detained and interviewed as part of the investigation.
Police said those involved knew each other and described the incident as isolated. The investigation remains ongoing.
