A new report says Spurs announcer Jacob Tobey is out of the organization after an alleged affair with a player’s sister was brought to light via his own social media.
Earlier this week, screenshots were quickly posted of Tobey’s Instagram story, which used a photo of Tobey and his girlfriend and read, “This is my girlfriend of six years but I cheated on her with Loren Waters. @lorenkwatrs.” The post continued, saying “feel free to continue following me if you really think I’m a good guy because I’m not. :)” The story post, which was seemingly uploaded overnight, was removed by early morning. However, screenshots were reposted to Reddit early Tuesday morning.
The account tagged in the story post belongs to Loren Waters, a filmmaker and sister of Spurs player Lindy Waters III. A Filmmaker Magazine feature linked in the bio of Loren Waters’ Instagram account confirms her relation to the player.
According to a report from Front Office Sports, Tobey is no longer with the organization that he has called games for since 2024. Tobey joined the Spurs from Denver, where he called games for the Broncos, Nuggets, Colorado Rockies and Avalanche. After graduating from Suffolk University in 2018, he jumped to Tulsa, Oklahoma’s KJRH as a sports anchor and reporter — according to a feature by the San Antonio Report, he met Lindy Waters III during that time when the player was a guard for Oklahoma State.
Neither Tobey or the organization have appeared to publicly address the situation. MySA reached out to Spurs Sports & Entertainment for confirmation, but did not immediately receive a response.
