Paul Campbell was arrested on charges on continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14.
PLANO, Texas — More details about the arrest of a Plano Independent School District teacher on charges of sexual abuse against a child under the age of were revealed in court documents provided to WFAA. Paul Campbell, 64, was arrested and jailed on Wednesday, July 8, after an 8-year-old student reported the abuse to school officials.

Campbell was a second-grade teacher at Brinker Elementary School, and the district said he spent more than 28 years with Plano ISD. He was taken into custody as he arrived for a meeting at the Plano ISD administration building.
Thursday night, the Board of Trustees voted unanimously to send notice of proposed termination of Campbell’s term contract to the administration.
A spokesperson told WFAA the 8-year-old girl made an outcry to her family on July 4, which is when police first spoke to the child and her family. Campbell’s arrest warrant states the abuse took place at the school during the 2025-2026 school year.

The child’s father said the 8-year-old first told her older sister about the sexual assault, after which the girls told adults about the abuse. The 8-year-old told her family and police that Campbell also sexually assaulted a friend of the child and potentially other girls.
The child reiterated the same details of being sexually assaulted in the classroom in an interview two days later on July 6 at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Plano, where officials report the child said the abuse happened “on several occasions.”
The friend of the 8-year-old was also interviewed by investigators on July 7 and corroborated the other child’s details of being sexually assaulted, police said in the arrest warrant. She told police that she was sexually assaulted in the classroom and during recess. The girl told investigators that Campbell “touched her many times,” and that she observed him abusing two other girls in the classroom other than the two police spoke to.
Plano ISD said in a statement on Wednesday that it is aware of the arrest and is fully cooperating with police. In a statement, the district said, in part, “The alleged conduct is reprehensible and is completely inconsistent with the values and expectations we hold for all Plano ISD employees.”
Campbell was initially booked into the Plano City Jail and was transferred to the Collin County Jail on Thursday morning. A bond has not been set.
