PLAINVIEW, Texas (KCBD) – A Plainview woman has been indicted on a federal charge of enticement and attempted enticement of a minor following an investigation by the FBI and Plainview Police Department.
On April 11, 2026, Plainview Police Department officers were dispatched to a residence in Plainview in reference to a runaway juvenile. Court documents say the 15-year-old was believed to be in an ongoing relationship with 28-year-old Cassity Lyric Vasquez.
Officers located the juvenile inside Vasquez’s residence and they were released to family members.
On April 16, 2026, PPD detectives contacted the FBI’s Lubbock Resident Agency for assistance. Investigators subsequently obtained search warrants for Vasquez’s social media accounts, including Instagram and Snapchat.
The minor was interviewed on May 7, where he confirmed the sexual relationship.
Agents conducted an interview with Vasquez on July 1, where she admitted she knew the teen was underage and admitted to having sex with him several times at her home.
The use of social media platforms allowed a federal grand jury to consider this case. The jury indicted Vasquez on one count of enticement and attempted enticement of a minor on July 8.
Vasquez has not entered a plea at this time.
Vasquez was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on July 8 on a United States Marshal remand. At this time, she is being held on an other agency hold.
A violation of 18 USC 2242b (enticement) carries a penalty of at least 10 years to life in prison.
No word about state or local charges at this time.
