Arlington ISD is looking for a new athletic director.
Eric White, who served in that role from 2018 to 2026, recently retired from that position after 30 years of experience in public education and athletic leadership. But it didn’t take him long to find a new job.
White has been named the vice president of intercollegiate athletics for Arlington Baptist University, the school announced.
“My faith and dependence on Christ are the backbone and structure that guide me through life,” White said in a statement. “The opportunity to serve the students and staff at Arlington Baptist University is truly an answer to prayer. The vision of the University and its leadership to develop young men and women who love the Lord while growing into Christ-centered adults is inspiring. I am honored and excited to join the team and contribute to that mission.”
White got a health scare in 2024, when he was taken to the emergency room at Mansfield Methodist Medical Center and was battling serious medical problems. Burleson ISD athletic director Kevin Ozee went on X (formerly Twitter) at the time and said White was experiencing multiple organ failure, pneumonia, septic shock and other issues and was receiving dialysis.
White began his career as an athletic trainer and worked at Fort Worth Polytechnic, Joshua and Mansfield High from 1996 to 2005. In 2006, he joined Mansfield ISD as assistant athletic director, where he worked until 2018.
