The Socorro Police Department has officially earned Accreditation Status through the Texas Law Enforcement Accreditation Program, becoming the first time in the department’s history to achieve the distinction.
The accreditation, administered by the Texas Police Chiefs Association Foundation, recognizes law enforcement agencies that meet the state’s highest professional standards for policing.
Police Chief Robert C. Rojas announced the achievement during a news conference Friday at the department’s headquarters.
According to the department, the accreditation reflects years of work to strengthen policies, procedures and operational practices while demonstrating a commitment to professionalism, accountability and transparency.

“This is a historic milestone for the Socorro Police Department,” officials said, noting that the designation recognizes agencies dedicated to serving their communities with integrity, accountability and excellence.
The Texas Law Enforcement Accreditation Program evaluates agencies on a wide range of best practices and standards designed to promote effective, ethical and professional policing.
