Whataburger has been a Texas mainstay since its inaugural founding in Corpus Christi back in August 1950. With approximately 1,200 restaurants across 17 states — including just shy of 800 outposts here in Texas alone — the chain has expanded its prowess beyond the Lone Star State.
That doesn’t mean it still doesn’t give some extra TLC to its Texas eateries. One of the chain’s Temple restaurant is the latest slated for a full remodel, according to project filings registered on Thursday, July 9 with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Those improvements are teed up for one of the four stores located in Temple. The Whataburger restaurant located at 1415 SW HK Dodgen Loop, Temple, TX 76502 is poised to undergo a remodel of the existing restaurant, amounting to a project scope of approximately 2,002 square feet.
With a sticker price of roughly $400,000, construction work is expected to begin on August 17 and wrap on November 2, 2026, based on preliminary timelines. Both timelines and cost estimated incorporated into TDLR filings are approximations and are subject to change.
It’s not the only location on deck for enhancements in the Central Texas area. Whataburger is also bolstering its restaurant at 3210 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Austin, TX 78721 as part of a $2 million endeavor. That project is scheduled to begin work this month, with construction on the 6,000-square-foot scope earmarked to finish in December.
