WACO, Texas (KWTX) – A bomb threat forced the evacuation and closure of the McLennan County Courthouse in Waco Friday morning.
McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara confirmed in a news conference that a bomb threat was called in at approximately 8 a.m.
“We took every precaution to keep our employees, our citizens, and our law enforcement officers safe,” Sheriff McNamara said.
The McLennan County Courthouse is located at 501 Washington Avenue in downtown Waco.
Other resources, including Texas Department of Public Safety K9s, were brought in to secure the area and make sure there were no threats.
After multiple searches of the courthouse building, and additional searches of the courthouse annex and the District Attorney’s office, law enforcement did not find anything related to the threat.
The courthouse will remain closed for the rest of the day and all employees were sent home.
This is a developing story. No further information is available.
