SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) – Sherman police, with assistance from the Texas Rangers, are investigating a homicide near the east service road of US-75 and Taylor Street Friday morning.
Officers received a call regarding the homicide at approximately 3:38 a.m. Friday. The investigation involves two crime scenes — one on the Taylor Street bridge over US-75 and another on Taylor Street across from the Splash at Fairview Park.
Investigators worked the Taylor Street bridge scene for more than four hours, photographing the area around a white Chevrolet Malibu with its front doors propped open. A hearse later arrived and left the scene. A woman was also observed approaching the bridge intersection and speaking with Sherman police.
At 7:09 a.m., a law enforcement presence was established across from the Splash Aquatic Center on the 1200-block of West Taylor Street, where officers carried out an investigation. Both eastbound and westbound lanes of Taylor Street were temporarily closed, as was the Taylor Street bridge. Sherman police said as of 9:19 a.m., all affected roadways had been reopened.
The uncle and mother of a man in his early 20s said their loved one was fatally shot. Sherman police have not confirmed any deaths or arrests in connection with the incident.
Sherman police are working closely with the Texas Rangers. Sgt. Brandon Hughes said new developments could happen at any point. Sherman police said additional information will be released when it becomes available.
