The Plano West Theatre troupe will perform ‘Six: The Musical’ at the Gaylord Texan Resort

Plano West Senior High School Theatre is stepping into the spotlight this fall. The group has been selected by the International Thespian Society as the main stage production for the 2025 Texas Thespians State Festival for their acclaimed rendition of Six: The Musical.

From The Classroom To Center Stage

According to Plano ISD, the production earned rave reviews across Texas and was chosen following a formal adjudication process that evaluated performance, direction, technical design and overall program excellence. Plano West’s selection places the school among the state’s top theatre programs and highlights what the district describes as “the strength of Plano ISD Fine Arts on a state platform.”

The festival will take place on Nov. 21, 2025, at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, with performances scheduled for 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

A Royal Performance

Six: The Musical reimagines the six wives of Henry VIII as modern pop divas competing to see who suffered the most at the hands of the infamous king. Known for its catchy score and sharp wit, the show has been a Broadway and West End hit and now, Plano West’s students will bring their version of the spectacle to one of Texas’ most celebrated theatre stages.

Being selected as a main stage production is one of the highest honors a school can achieve at the state level, awarded only to a handful of elite programs each year.

Plano ISD’s Continued Excellence

This latest achievement adds to Plano ISD’s growing list of academic and creative accomplishments. Across the district, students continue to earn statewide and national recognition for excellence in performance, leadership and innovation.

Earlier this fall, two Plano East students, Ananya Nagendra and Kareem Hassanien, were named 2026 Coca-Cola Scholars semifinalists for their leadership and academic excellence.

In the STEM arena, Jasper High School freshman Matthew Kuo advanced to the Top 30 in the 2025 Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge, one of the nation’s most competitive middle school science contests.

Together, these accomplishments underscore Plano ISD’s strong academic and artistic foundation and the district’s continued presence on both state and national stages.
