Texas Democratic Senate candidate and Texas state Rep. James Talarico will make a campaign stop in Webb County Tuesday as part of his Frontera Tour, his campaign announced Friday.
Talarico is scheduled to begin his visit Tuesday with a 1 p.m. press conference focused on tariffs at the port of entry. He will then attend a World Cup watch party at 2:15 p.m.
The visit will conclude with a community rally at 6 p.m. in the San Agustin Ballroom at La Posada, 1000 Zaragoza St., Suite 107.
According to the campaign, the Frontera Tour is focused on communities along the Texas border that it says have been overlooked by both major political parties. Stops include El Paso, Marfa, Alpine, Sanderson, Del Rio, Eagle Pass, Laredo, McAllen and Edinburg.
The campaign said Talarico plans to discuss issues including water infrastructure, border security, health care affordability and the cost of living.
“Border communities are the gateway to our state’s economy — but for too long, politicians have taken them for granted. From El Paso to the Rio Grande Valley, Texans are drowning under the high cost of everything — while the establishment in both political parties doesn’t seem to notice,” Talarico said. “Ken Paxton hasn’t been to a single border community this entire campaign, probably because there aren’t enough billionaire mega-donors down here. So here’s my message to border communities: if you feel like you’ve been conned, if you feel like you’ve been let down by both political parties, if you feel like politicians aren’t doing anything to lower your costs — you’ve got a place in this campaign.”
The tour officially began Saturday in El Paso.
