BOWIE COUNTY, Texas — Four people are dead after a two-vehicle crash early Saturday in western Bowie County.
At approximately 3:20 a.m. Saturday, the Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol responded to a crash on U.S. Highway 259, approximately 4 miles south of DeKalb, according to Sgt. Ethan Sartor, DPS spokesman.
Dru Wilson, 23, of DeKalb, was northbound in a Nissan Altima when the vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a Dodge Charger, according to a preliminary investigation. Wilson died at the scene.
Joel Ellestad, 22, Payton Butler, 24, and Ty Byrd, 20, addresses not provided, were in the Charger. All died at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, and no further information was available late Saturday.
