Officials are searching for a man who went missing after he was seen in a designated swimming area Sunday at Benbrook Lake, according to a statement from the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department.
According to the statement, Tarrant County Texas Game Wardens were responding to a “possible water-related fatality” at the lake as of 6 p.m. Benbrook Lake is located about 17 miles southwest of Fort Worth.
Witnesses told officials that a man, who hasn’t been publicly identified, went underwater in a designated swimming area near Mustang Park and didn’t resurface.
“This is an ongoing incident and details are subject to change,” Maggie Berger, spokeswoman for the department, said.
Additional information will be released when it becomes available, Berger said.
A 15-year-old died on June 27 after entering Lake Jacksonville in East Texas to help a 5-year-old whose inflatable device had drifted into deeper water, according to the Jacksonville Police Department. Jacksonville is about 120 miles southeast of Dallas.
The teen, who hasn’t been publicly identified, called out for help before disappearing beneath the water, police said.
