The NHL revealed another important date in the Jason Robertson contract negotiations on Sunday.
The arbitration hearing for the Dallas Stars‘ forward is set for Saturday, July 25. That gives the team and Robertson two weeks to reach an agreement on a long-term deal before a neutral arbiter decides his contract terms for 2026-27.
If this situation reaches the arbitration hearing, Robertson and the Stars then can’t agree to a multi-year extension until Jan. 1.
The first-team NHL All-Star couldn’t find common ground with the Stars earlier this offseason. Dallas reportedly offered Robertson approximately $12 million annually, but the forward is seeking more. The Stars also agreed to trade him to Seattle for multiple first-round picks (where he could have had an eight-year deal making $15 million annually) but Robertson nixed the trade when he declined to sign the contract with the Kraken, according to Dallas GM Jim Nill.
Robertson’s brother, Nick, has also filed for arbitration this offseason with the Pittsburgh Penguins (a team that has been linked to Jason in a trade). His hearing is set for Tuesday, July 28.
