After moving to Corpus Christi at an early age, Raymond graduated from Corpus Christi High School (now known as Miller High School). Raymond then became self-employed working another 25+ years as an insurance investigator doing what he thoroughly enjoyed.

In 1956, Raymond married Helen M. Pargmann, and together they embarked on a journey spanning nearly seven decades having celebrated 69 years of marriage. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children, Daren R. Wilder, who married Dianne, and Karen M. Martinez, who married Joe. Raymond’s role as a father was one he cherished deeply, guiding his children with a gentle hand and a warm heart.

He also leaves behind 3 great grandchildren, Dean & Walker Holz; and Levi Hanson, along with quite a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Each of them held a special place in Raymond’s heart, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and adventures.

As a man of faith, Raymond’s Christian beliefs were a cornerstone of his life offering him strength and solace throughout his years. He was an active member of his church community, where he found fellowship and purpose.

Raymond’s zest for life was evident in his passion for traveling, cruising and swimming. He found great pleasure in exploring new destinations, whether it was the tranquility of the ocean or the excitement of a new city. Raymond and Helen also enjoyed going to estate sales and spending weekends on their farm at Runge. These experiences not only enriched his life but also created cherished memories for his family and friends.

During Raymond’s work life, he came into contact with many people over the years. It was not unusual for him to know someone in an airport or on a cruise no matter where he and Helen traveled. His warm smile, generous spirit, and thoughtful gestures were hallmarks of his character. Raymond approached life with an open heart, eagerly sharing his joy and compassion with everyone he met.

Raymond’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but his spirit will live on through the countless lives he touched and the memories that will be cherished.
