Why there was a large police presence outside the Hilliard Center in Corpus Christi

There was a large police presence Tuesday at the Hilliard Center in Corpus Christi.

The Corpus Christi Police Department told 3NEWS the incident appears to involve an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police said only one person was involved and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Drivers are urged to use caution and avoid the area while officers remain on scene.
