EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — A local cancer patient marked the end of her treatment with a celebratory milestone at The Hospitals of Providence Memorial Campus.
According to The Hospitals of Providence, Cynthia Escajeda rang the hospital’s victory bell on Tuesday, signaling the completion of her cancer treatment.
Video provided by The Hospitals of Providence showed Escajeda being surprised with a celebration from nurses at the hospital, where she was able to ring the traditional bell.

“It’s just a feeling inside of me that it’s just overwhelming, just joy, joy, and all the journey that you have, that you go through, and then that you ring a bell, it’s just the completion, the completion of the journey, and I’m just stoked right now,” Escajeda said.
Escajeda also encouraged people to learn to love their body and to know when their body may need additional medical help.
“You have to love yourself and love every single part of your body, know and learn what your body is feeling so that you can be prepared if you need to go to the ER. Learn to love your body, that is going to make it easier for anyone that is going through it,” Escajeda said.
