Forecasters warn another 1 to 2 inches of rain could fall, creating dangerous conditions on creeks, low-water crossings and roadways around Kerrville, Fredericksburg, Comfort and surrounding communities, according to a Facebook post from the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO).
The following cities will experience flash flooding: Kerrville, Fredericksburg, Comfort, Ingram, Tivydale, Harper, Kerrville-Schreiner Park, Cypress Creek, Center Point, Doss, Camp Verde and Cherry Spring.
The Kerrville Police Department warned that the following roads have barricades:
The police department stressed that drivers use caution in the area and not drive around barricades or into high water. Kerr County wrote in its post, “Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.”
KCSO deputies are stationed throughout the county, and all personnel are on standby. Kerr County Emergency Management has communicated with summer camps and retreat centers that may be affected by a river flooding event.
