The Texas Department of Transportation’s Austin District confirmed all four northbound lanes traveling along U.S. Highway 183 were closed around 10 a.m. due to a crash near the intersection with State Highway 21, according to a social media post shared on X. Over at TxDOT’s Austin live incident database, the crash had been classified as “critical.”

The crash site is located south of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, near the Central Texas communities of Mustang Ridge, Creedmoor and Niederwald. No additional details have been publicly shared at this time regarding the nature of the crash, how many vehicles were involved or any injuries related to the incident.

A county spokesperson confirmed the Travis County Sheriff’s Office dispatched the call related to the crash, with Mustang Ridge Police Department the responding agency. It’s not the only crash reported along U.S. Hwy. 183 Wednesday morning, according to TxDOT’s incident reports. A “major” crash has been flagged along the U.S. Hwy. 183 South Toll heading northbound at Montopolis Drive, per TxDOT. That confirmed incident has resulted in at least one lane closure.

Over along the U.S. Hwy. 183A Toll heading southbound at New Hope Drive, a “major” collision has also been verified, with impacts to at least one lane.
