Residents seeking to run for mayor or city council must submit applications by Aug. 17.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Residents interested in running for mayor or a Corpus Christi City Council seat will soon have the opportunity to file for candidacy in the upcoming municipal election.
The City of Corpus Christi announced that the candidate filing period opens Monday, July 20, at 8 a.m. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17.

Prospective candidates can find the 2026 Candidate Packet, which includes the application, eligibility requirements and filing instructions, on the City Secretary’s webpage or pick up a printed copy at the City Secretary’s Office on the first floor of City Hall, 1201 Leopard St.
Candidates must submit a $100 filing fee with their application. The city said payments must be made in cash, by money order or cashier’s check payable to the City of Corpus Christi. Personal and business checks will not be accepted.
Candidates also have the option of submitting a petition in place of the filing fee by following the requirements outlined in the Candidate Packet.
