A flood watch remains in effect on Thursday, July 16, for San Antonio and several of its surrounding cities. Amid the National Weather Service’s (NWS) prediction of 15 inches of additional rainfall, school districts are canceling some summer classes.
Flash flooding has led to the cancellation of all Kerrville ISD activities scheduled for Thursday, July 16, according to the district’s Facebook. Staff are being asked to avoid the campuses until further notice.
“The safety of our students, staff, and community remains our top priority,” district officials wrote in a statement. “We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as they become available.
Please follow the guidance of local emergency officials and avoid flooded roadways.”
All of Northside ISD’s district and school offices are closed on Thursday. The district says the shutdown is being done out of an abundance of caution due to the current weather conditions.
“District staff will transition to a remote work environment for the day,” officials said. “In addition, all student activities will remain canceled for the remainder of the week.”
Somerset ISD announced that it’s operating on a delayed start and will open at 9 a.m. This delay applies to all of its campuses, district offices, New Student Registration and scheduled student activities, according to a Facebook post.
The new hours for the New Student Registration are 9:00 a.m. to noon and 2:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 16.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding as we prioritize everyone’s safety,” Somerset ISD said.
