EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Prepare for the new school year with Live Active El Paso’s Back-to-School 3K Walk/Run and Backpack Giveaway.
The event will be from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, at Vista Del Valle Park, located at 1300 Hawkins Blvd.
The day will kick off with a fun and family-friendly 3K walk/run “designed to encourage healthy, active lifestyles,” according to a news release by the City of El Paso.
Participants who complete the 3K course will receive a free backpack, while supplies last. Over 2,000 backpacks will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited to school-aged children.
In addition to the 3K, families can enjoy a variety of activities and community resources, such as:
School supplies provided by the Office of District 3 Representative Deanna Maldonado-Rocha, District 6 Representative Art Fierro, and the El Paso Police Department
Food pantry for the first 100 families, provided by El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank while supplies last
Face painting, family-friendly activities, and appearances by K-Pop Demon Hunters characters
Free vaccinations provided by the El Paso Department of Public Health
Live entertainment and community resources
“We believe parks bring people together, and events like the Back-to-School 3K Walk/Run reflect that mission,” El Paso Parks and Recreation Director Pablo Caballero said. “This event is an opportunity to promote healthy lifestyles, connect families with valuable community resources, and help students start the school year prepared for success.”
