One of San Antonio’s own has returned to Texas after snagging a highly desired role at a major news outlet.
Ashley Bowerman, born and raised in the Alamo City, has just been added to the Bryan-College Station KBTX news team as an evening anchor. The station, owned by CBS affiliate Gray Media, welcomed Bowerman in a Wednesday announcement.
“KBTX has a new face joining the evening news desk,” the announcement read. “Ashley Bowerman is the station’s new evening anchor, appearing alongside the current anchor team on the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts and additional programming.”
After earning her diploma at Boerne High School in San Antonio, Bowerman graduated from Texas State University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science degree in electronic media, mass communication and media studies.

While attending Texas State University in San Marcos, Bowerman served as assistant news director at KTSW-FM 89.9. She also interned at San Antonio television stations WOAI-TV and KABB Fox 29.
After graduating, Bowerman began her television career as an evening anchor at WSFA 12 News in Montgomery, Alabama, in February 2020. She spent three years there before joining FOX 11 News in Tucson, Arizona. Now, she’s returning to Texas.
“TEXAS, I’M HOME! I am so thrilled to announce that I am the new evening anchor at @kbtxnews3 in Bryan-College Station,” she wrote in a Wednesday social media post.
“I will be anchoring the evening shows alongside @rustysurette and the entire talented team of journalists here at the station🙂 I am looking forward to getting to know the Brazos Valley community and sharing your stories! Thank you for the warm welcome already!”
