The Denton Fire Department announced in a social media post Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. they were investigating a possible drowning at a community pond in the Country Lakes neighborhood.
Firefighters later confirmed that an unidentified man and dog had drowned in the pond. They were both recovered from the water, firefighters said.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with this family on the loss of two of their loved ones,” the fire department said in the post.
This drowning is among several water-related deaths throughout North Texas this week.
Fort Worth firefighters on Wednesday found two people dead near an overturned kayak in a private pond in east Fort Worth.
Firefighters said it was reported as a water emergency in the 3100 block of Cooks Lane. The unidentified victims were approximately 20 and 60 years old and were pronounced dead at the scene, Fort Worth firefighters said.
On Monday, the body of Freddy Ferrer Bracamonte, 62, of Fort Worth, was recovered from Benbrook Lake, according to a statement from the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. Bracamonte was last seen Sunday in a designated swimming area. Witnesses told officials that Bracamonte went underwater near Mustang Park and didn’t resurface.
