LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – CritterFest 2026 is underway at the Science Spectrum Museum, running Thursday through Sunday, July 16–19, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The annual event features live animals on display, interactive experiences, and two featured shows.
Attendees can view elephants, alligators, crocodiles, camels, sheep, goats, pigs, rabbits, snakes, and tortoises, among other animals. The event includes a petting zoo, pony and camel rides, and live reptile shows. Additional fees apply for animal feeding, rides, and photos.
General admission also includes regular Science Spectrum Museum admission, which provides access to Texas Alive: the Brazos River Journey! — a 6,000-square-foot permanent exhibit featuring fresh and saltwater fish and other native Texas animals.
Two shows headline CritterFest 2026:
JUMP! The Ultimate Dog Show features Lou Mack and his dogs in a canine entertainment performance. The show has been running for more than 36 years. Show times are 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.
Crocodile Encounters is a reptile show featuring American alligators, Nile crocodiles, and other reptiles. Show times are as follows:
Thursday & Friday: 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Saturday: 12 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 4:30 p.m.
Sunday: 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Tickets and pricing
Tickets are available only at the door beginning at 10 a.m. each day. General admission prices are:
Adults: $16
Children (ages 3–12): $13
Seniors (age 60 and older): $13
Children age 2 and under: Free
Museum members pay reduced show ticket rates:
Adults: $6
