The global engineering company highlights North Texas expansion during its first Engineering Intelligence Hackathon

Plano continues to strengthen its reputation as one of the nation’s fastest-growing technology and engineering hubs. L&T Technology Services (LTTS) recently hosted its inaugural Global Engineering Intelligence (EI) Hackathon, bringing together nearly 4,000 engineers across 770 teams from nine locations around the world.

The 24-hour innovation challenge focused on developing AI-native engineering solutions, with Plano playing a key role as one of the company’s expanding U.S. operations.

The event mirrors LTTS’ broader strategy of integrating artificial intelligence throughout the engineering lifecycle, from product development to operations and digital transformation.

Plano’s Growing Role

According to LTTS, its Plano office has experienced significant growth as demand for AI-enabled engineering services continues to rise.

The company reports:


Office footprint has grown four to five times
Nearly 300 employees are now based in Plano
Engineering headcount has doubled
Additional hiring is planned
The company continues recruiting talent from The University of Texas at Dallas and the University of North Texas

LTTS said the expansion positions Plano as a key U.S. engineering hub supporting clients across healthcare, financial services and digital transformation initiatives.

Engineering Intelligence In Action

The hackathon challenged teams from Bengaluru, Mysuru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Vadodara, Mumbai, Dallas and Munich to develop AI-driven solutions addressing real-world engineering challenges.

Projects were evaluated by LTTS leaders and technology experts based on innovation, technical excellence, scalability, practical application and effective use of artificial intelligence.

The winning project developed a fully self-hosted proprietary large language model (LLM) running entirely on LTTS infrastructure. By keeping AI workflows within the company’s own systems rather than relying on external providers, the solution protects sensitive enterprise data while reducing recurring API costs.

Investing In North Texas

LTTS says its continued investment in Plano reflects the region’s growing technology ecosystem and strong engineering talent pipeline.
