Teen shot during party at North Texas short-term rental property, police say

A teen was shot during a birthday party at a short-term rental property in Little Elm on July 17, according to Little Elm Police.

The teen went to the hospital and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, the department said.

In a press release, Little Elm PD said it received multiple calls around 11:30 p.m. Friday reporting gunshots and juveniles running through the neighborhood near White Oak Drive and White Pine Drive.

The short-term rental property was booked for a juvenile birthday party, police said, where most attendants were students from Lewisville High School.

Frisco Police Department, Oak Point Police Department, and the Denton County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the party.

Local police continue to investigate the incident.

Little Elm PD said town ordinances prohibit parties and events at short-term rental properties, rules meant to protect the quality of life in area neighborhoods.

The town is looking into potential enforcement actions related to the owners of the property. Those with information about the incident are asked to contact Little Elm PD.
