EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of the Borderland region on Saturday evening, July 18, according to the National Weather Service.
A thunderstorm warning has been issued until 9 p.m. Saturday for El Paso, Canutillo and Sunland Park, New Mexico until 9 p.m. on Saturday, according to the NWS.
Wind could reach 60 mph with quarter-sized hail possible.
A flash flood warning has been issued until 9:30 p.m. to Canutillo, Westway and Vinton, according to NWS. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters.
The New Mexico Department of Transportation is reporting difficult driving conditions in the Anthony, New Mexico area with wet roadways and heavy hail.
New Mexico Highway 28 was closed in both directions at mile marker 3 because of a downed tree, but reopened at about 9 p.m. Saturday, NMDOT said.
NM 183 was closed in both directions at mile marker 1 because of a downed tree. It reopened at about 10 p.m.
