REAL COUNTY, Texas — More than 300 campers were safely evacuated from Camp Eagle after flooding washed out the camp’s main access road, prompting an emergency response from state and local officials.
The evacuation was carried out at the request of Real County Judge Bella Rubio after floodwaters made the camp’s primary entrance impassable. Approximately 325 campers were transported to safety without reported injuries.

Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety’s South Texas Region, including personnel from Cameron County, assisted in the evacuation alongside the Center Point Volunteer Fire Department and other local emergency response agencies.
State officials credited the successful operation to the coordinated efforts of multiple agencies working together under challenging conditions.
The evacuation comes as communities across parts of Texas continue recovering from recent flooding that has damaged roads and infrastructure. The Texas Department of Public Safety said it remains committed to supporting local and state partners as recovery efforts continue.
