Rain chances ending as heat builds midweek

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Isolated storms are packing up across Lubbock and the South Plains tonight, clearing the way for a triple-digit heatwave later this week.

Any late evening storms from Sunday will quickly fizzle out. A slight chance for a stray storm remains, but most areas will stay dry as lows drop in the upper 60s, low 70s.

While tonight will be mostly calm, heat is building across the area.

Monday highs will creep into the mid to upper 90sMonday highs will creep into the mid to upper 90s(KCBD)

Monday will be dry and mostly sunny as moisture finally begins to pull away. Expect highs in the low 90s on the Caprock and upper 90s off the Caprock.

High pressure is taking back control of our weather, and a building heatwave will usher in dangerous triple digit heat later in the week. Highs will climb into the upper 90s to low 100s by mid-to-late week
