A viral East Coast bagel shop will soon be bringing its famous rip-and-dip bagel concept with tubs of cream cheese to Central Texas. PopUp Bagels has finally set plans for its first location in Austin this fall.
In April, the company confirmed in a news release that it was set to build its first Texas location in Dallas with plans for at least 12 more stores in hubs like Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. PopUp Bagel’s latest storefront will be at 11501 Rock Rose Ave., Suite 152 within the Domain Northside, a popular outdoor shopping center in north Austin.
The scope of work for the project includes an interior renovation/alteration to a 1,425-square-foot, second-generation restaurant space, designed for take out orders only. Construction on the Austin PopUp Bagels is expected to begin August 1 and is set to be finished by September 15.
Founded by Adam Goldberg in his Connecticut home in 2021, PopUp Bagels is best known for its “Grip, Rip and Dip” food craze that’s taken social media by storm. Instead of a traditional bagel sliced in half, PopUp Bagels serves hot, whole bagels straight from the oven that can be torn apart and dipped into various cream cheese flavors and salted butter.
The “Not famous but known” bagel shop offers five bagel options — plain, everything, poppy seed, salt and sesame — with rotating cream cheese schmears. MySA reached out to PopUp Bagels for comment on its Austin store’s future opening date.
