July and August are some of the hottest months of the year. In the heat of the summer, here are some pools, lakes and waterparks for Dallas-Fort Worth residents to stay cool and have fun at.
Bad Königshofen Family Aquatic Center
Located within S.J. Stovall Park in Arlington, this aquatic center features a pool with an interactive spray pad, a shallow-water play pool, a lap pool, a diving area and two water slides. Additionally, they offer storage lockers, shower facilities, a shade pavilion and concessions.
Open until Aug. 9, the center is closed on Tuesdays and has varying hours throughout the week. Admission for residents under 48 inches is $8 and $9 for those over 48 inches. Children 12 months and under have free admission.
Burger’s Lake
The 20-foot-deep lake, located in Fort Worth, is home to a 30-acre park. The waterpark includes slides, diving boards, pavilions, a kids splash pad, volleyball courts and more. Opened in 1929, this is Texas’ oldest waterpark, according to the Burger’s Lake website.
The park is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Great White water slides are also open daily from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m.
A day pass costs $20 before taxes, with the Great White Slides being an additional $10. Military discounts are available. Parking is included in the admission price.
Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark
Located in Grand Prairie, this 80,000-square-foot waterpark offers residents many attractions, including their outdoor wave pool, The Swimming Hole and the Rio Grand lazy river. They also have a 4,000-square-foot arcade and a cafe.
They are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday to Saturday. Daily admission starts at $44 with online savings and special events, like tiny tot time, where kids under 5 and parents can play in the park from 8 to 10 a.m. for $7.
Howard Moore Play Pool
Located at the Howard Moore Park in Arlington, this pool is designed for children ages 7 and under and includes amenities like an interactive water structure, family changing rooms, shade umbrellas and limited concessions.
Open until Aug. 9, the facilities are closed on Mondays and have varying hours. For people under 48 inches, the admission fee is $3, and for those over 48 inches it is $4. Children 12 months and under can enter for free.
Joe Pool Lake
Located in Grand Prairie, on the northwest shore of Joe Pool Lake lies Lynn Creek Park, where a white sand swimming beach, a playground, restrooms, showers, a concession stand, 2 boat ramps and more.
The park is open until Sept. 15 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. For Grand Prairie residents, admission is free and $20 for nonresidents on a business day, $40 on a holiday weekend.
Randol Mill Family Aquatic Center
This aquatic center includes a shallow water playground, vortex pools, current channel, water slide and additional areas that offer recreational fun for all ages. They also have two shade pavilions, shower facilities and concessions.
Open until Aug. 9, the center has varying hours and is closed Wednesdays.
Infants 12 months and under have free admission. Other admission prices are based on height, with those under 48 inches at $8 and $9 for those over 48 inches.
Six Flags Hurricane Harbor
At Hurricane Harbor, DFW residents can enjoy over 40 rides and attractions like tall, splash-worthy rides, the Lazy River, Surf Lagoon, splash pads and more. In addition to Cabanas, Biminis and other resting areas, there are over a dozen dining options around the park, from frozen desserts, refreshing drinks and pizza.
Drink and dining deals are available, starting around $20. Daily tickets for the park start around $29, with membership passes starting at $70. General parking is $35.
