Emergency crews are responding after a small plane crashed into a home in Fort Bend County Monday morning.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, a Piper J3C-65 crashed into a house in Fulshear around 6:45 a.m. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
“The FAA was not providing air traffic control services,” the FAA posted to X around noon on Monday. “Only the pilot was on board.”
A photo shared by the Fulshear-Simonton Fire Department appears to show the yellow aircraft lodged against the roof of a home from the backyard.
“Today FSFD, Community (Fire Department), and Fort Bend HAZMAT are on scene of a plane into a house near the Covey Trails Airstrip,” the agency posted to Facebook. “Also on scene are DPS, Fort Bend (Sheriff’s Office), and (Pct. 1) Constables office.”
The Texas Department of Public Safety told ABC 13 the pilot was transported to Memorial Hermann Katy with minor injuries. It remains unclear whether the home was occupied at the time of the crash.
Officials told the Houston Chronicle the property was located on Kitty Hawk Street south of the Westpark Tollway in Richmond, but that is was part of Fulshear’s emergency services district.
Chron has reached out to DPS for more information. Authorities have not publicly identified the pilot, and it remains unclear how much damage the home sustained.
