Despite investing more than $20 million, the company said the concept was no longer sustainable
The HUB has officially closed in Allen. The open-air food hall and entertainment venue at The Farm served its final guests after nearly four years in business.
The HUB announced the closure on July 20. Since opening in November 2022, the venue had become a destination for outdoor dining, live entertainment and community events, welcoming families, sports fans and foodies alike.
The Allen location was an ambitious expansion for The HUB, growing the concept first introduced in Florida near Seaside and Rosemary Beach. At three times the size of the original venue, the Allen property featured an open lawn, restaurants, bars and entertainment designed to appeal to every generation.
The venue was home to a variety of eateries, including Amore Pizza, Macho Taco, Crave Smash Burgers and Top Dog Arcade.
Why The HUB Closed
In a statement announcing the closure, company leaders reflected on both the vision behind the project and the challenges it ultimately faced.
“After creating The HUB on 30A in 2014 near Seaside and Rosemary Beach, we were approached by several projects who wanted The HUB as well,” a Facebook post from The HUB said. “After looking at The FARM in Allen, Texas — which was intended to have 2,400 apartments and 1.6 million square feet of office space, we embarked on creating The HUB at The FARM.”
The company said it invested more than $20 million to develop the Allen location before opening. During its time in the community, The HUB hosted free family programming, charity events, weekly meals for the Allen High School football team and dog adoption events that helped nearly 400 dogs find homes.
“Our mission was to create an oasis where the everyday focus was simply quality time with family and friends,” the company said.
According to the company, the surrounding development did not grow as originally anticipated. Residential and office construction lagged behind expectations while dozens of new restaurants opened nearby, creating a more competitive dining landscape.
The company said it continued investing millions of dollars annually to support operations, employees and programming despite those challenges.
What’s Next For The Property?
Although The HUB has closed, the property’s story may not be over.
“There will be a new chapter with this property by a fantastic group; however, this story is not written/complete yet so we can’t say more,” the company said.
